Historic Hunters' Encampment
Will Apple's Road Trail

In 1820 the Arkansas River valley was wild and relatively unexplored. Native Americans, hunters, soldiers, and explorers were the first to visit the area. Walk down a historic wagon road to find an encampment of living historians demonstrating firearms, clothing, cooking, camping equipment, and survival skills as they really rough it. This is a fun way for families to explore the park together and make memories that connect nature and history.
